Old West Environment

West Building Environment:
Upon completing the last environment assignment, our best buildings were taken and placed in their own layout. I chose an old Western since the environment could be simple but complex at the same time. Though the architecture was simple designs during that period, they still provided a challenge in creating unique look. As well, creating wood textures for each building and not make them identifiable from each other.

This assignment was a great push out of my comfort zone and allowed me to self discover new tools and tricks in creating textures on Photoshop.
Outlining my final building, I quickly drew out multiple thumbnails, making simple changes in each. By switching buildings, adding or taking away certain details, as well as value blocking I was able to create 5 different choices. The end result being "Old West" mixed with some aspects from "Ghost Town"
Like any Layout, I always start out with placing in perspective. Though buildings in the Old West weren't the most architecturally advance, they still need to look right.
Solid lines are placed in certain buildings to help with the blocking process. Prevents me from getting lost.
Blocking and BG are added in.
Final textures are placed along with cast shadows and final details like barrels.
Finished in roughly 2 weeks.
